Congrats are in order to Rachella ;-)
She's gonna graduate tomorrow from Pierce College. Same school I attended for 2 years when I was living with her. I just wanted to say that I am proud of her for accomplishing an AA degree even though I have seen her go through hard time and at the same time when trying to maintain good grades from some tough classes at school. I wish I could show up at her graduation day at Pierce and celebrate with and for her. Hey, I'll be there in spirit. *hugs to Ray*
I was very close to being able to go back to Cali (again) to see her graduation event because I could have had an appointment, in the same week, with an oral surgeon to extract my remaining wisdom teeth. I called the dentist's office and talked about that, but it turned out that he never sent in a pre-authorization order to my Medi-Cal for me in January when I went to see him for a consultation before I moved out (and Rachella went for hers too on same day as me). Over the phone, I asked them, out of curiousty, how long that order would be good for and they told me 6 months. I mentioned to them that I wished they told me that when I was there in January then I would have told them to go ahead to send it in and I would come back for an appt. They said to me that they assumed that I wouldn't come back because I told them I would be in Arizona for a short while. I mentioned that I am still recognized as a resident of Cali. They go, oh well. Anyway, still over the phone, the clerk said that she would send it in asap and then, it will be a month of waiting. After that, I will hear from them and see about it. Most likely, I will try to go there for my extraction hopefully during mid-July. Wait n see.... *sigh*
My wisdom teeth has been hurting, especially the gums surrounding it, for the last 3 constuctive weeks now. I've already started eating soft food, imagine that. Sucks, I know. But, since 2 days ago plus today, it does feel better now (for the time being, hopefully for long!) So that's why I wanted to throw 2 stones from one hand to go to Cali for Rachella's (and another friend, Jeri's) graduation and get my wisdom teeth over with.
I have only 2 more left on my right side of my mouth. I had the left side pulled out last year or so. At that time, the same dentist did not send in any pre-authorization order and decided to pull them out right on the spot even when it was just a consultation appointment. I had to make a split-second decision whether to or not to let him do so because it was 3 days before the week of finals. I had been a student for a year then. After that appt., I had the weekend to rest and study at the same time. Not Fun, I tell you. Then, Monday came, I had a final in my Art Apperication class that day. I was in the library reviewing a little more before the final. When I was ready to go out to walk up the stairs outdoors to the classroom, it was pouring very, very hard. I thought to myself, just my luck. My mouth was very uncomfortable and I was on meds. I sighed and took it in stride and pitter-pattered up them dangerously wet stairs. 6 zig-zagged flights later, my heart beated hard and breathed shallowly as I walked to the room all soaked. I sat down and took the final. I still haven't forgotten that day. Whoo. A big test for me, in two senses, I guess. By the way, I passed the test with a strong B. *winks* I had more finals the rest of the week, of course. But I can't remember details on any of them. That Monday is still sketched in my head.
